frank in (the nick of) time

i heard on npr this weekend something odd. the show was Whad'Ya Know. an author named Mark Jacobson was talking about his book 12,000 Miles in the Nick of Time which involved travelling around the world with his family.

somehow his kids fail to be suitably entertained and enlightened by the Burning Ghat. somthing about taking the family to watch corpses burn and get tossed in the river causes them to "question his sanity". something about the phrase reminded me where i'd heard this voice before. finally i put it together. he's the voice of the guy calling his psychiatrist on Joe Frank. I hear it on WFMU a lot.

but i can't find any note of this here or anywhere.
